We first met on April 24, 2020, at a little cafe in Chirn Park.
We'd connected a couple of weeks earlier on Tinder and decided on a short coffee date, just to make sure we actually liked each other in real life.
Safe to say, it was a success.
The Proposal
Somewhere in the Middle of the Pacific Ocean
Tuesday, January 14, 2025, around 9:30pm.
We had dropped the kids off with my family as we were heading away on a cruise together. At drop-off, Cliffe pulled my dad aside and said, "Vince, tonight I'm going to ask your daughter to marry me."
About two minutes later, Dad came over, gave me the biggest cuddle and said, "Congratulations." I was so confused, but brushed it off, thinking he was just excited we were finally having a date night.
We started the evening with cocktails at a beautiful bar, then went for a walk around the ship. I thought we were just wandering, but Cliffe was actually trying to find the perfect spot.
We paused on a stunning bridge over the pool, glowing in blue lights. Cliffe took my empty glass, Norah Jones started playing, and then he got down on one knee.
